X.8796 To EY. from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 4/T30.6.24. X.4181d - WATFORD MAGNETO. No.58668. This magneto was observed to be noisy on one of our experimental cars. It was accordingly taken to pieces and examined, and the results of the examination is contained in my assistant's report WA. {Mr Wallis} 53 herewith. Point C. appears to us of a rather serious nature, and it is thought that this should be taken up with the makers with a view to some improvement being affected at this point, as it seems possible that this may be one of the sources of noise in the magnetos, of which complaints are made. Reference to point D. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} , it is also suggested that the bearing surface of the sleeve securing ring in the end housing would be better increased. We are herewith sending the parts of this magneto for your own examination. It should be stated that this magneto is not standard, but is a 60° range negative rotation magneto which has been run on an EAC.2 engine, but I do not think this will affect the case, as the same faults may exist in the standard magneto. One or two up-to-date standard magnetos are now being tried, and if noisy in the same way, one of this will be dismantled for similar examination. EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} WA. {Mr Wallis} 53 herewith. | ||
