Dear Mr. Griswold,

Thank you very much for your letter of May 21st.

We are just taking delivery of a Packard 'One-Twenty' for use in the Experimental Dept., and anticipate that we shall be writing to you about it much more frequently than you will like. Anyhow, we shall be able to tell you what features appeal most to us under English driving conditions.

With regard to the period on 12 cylinder engines, we have of course tried the Packard 12 cylinder over here, and found that we could detect a crankshaft period on this car. It was round about 40-50 m.p.h., as in most 12 cylinders.

We believe that one reason why the period is not more severe on your car is because you run at a relatively low mean effective pressure and compression ratio.

We find that as soon as we put up the M.E.P. of our engines, we have to increase the inertia of our slipper wheels, and the damping.
