Wraith II Side Spare Wheel Carrier.

We send herewith LeC.5176 (2 sheets) showing the Wraith II side spare wheel carrier.

One spare wheel will be standard carried on the offside.

The belt attachment to the wheel comprises of Bentley parts. The fixing to the frame follows Phantom III, but we have cheapened the design by deleting the lower vertical face of the welded pressings. Although the old 25 H.P. forging may have been cheaper than this scheme it cannot be used with the box frame as the bolting has to span between the top and bottom flanges of the frame. To make a forging do this would be too heavy.

We have shown how the bottom flange of the frame can be modified so that the drilling of the two wheel carrier feet can be made identical.

If it is desired at this stage not to modify the frame it will necessitate a modified drilling for the wheel carrier foot pressing, and a modified shape of the pressing flange as indicated. We would prefer the former course if it is possible.

We show also the step bracket which passes underneath the spare wheel. A suitable wing stay for this position on the near side will form the subject of a separate scheme.
