To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ve. Ve/NP.2/CB.12.8.41. 40 mm. GUN ON POWERED MOUNTING FOR NAVAL USE. In reply to your Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/ET.10.8.41, Lt. Howes has arranged to collect the gun on powered mounting on Thursday, when it will be taken to Felixstowe for installation in an ML. We have no confirmation that Lt. Howes has yet secured official sanction for this enterprise, but the main thing seems to be to get the gun at sea. As the boat may go into action with the gun fitted, there is a risk that it may be destroyed or sunk by enemy action. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has informed us that the firm are prepared to take this risk. Ve. | ||
