40 mm. GUN ON POWERED MOUNTING FOR NAVAL USE.

Lt. Howes, R.N., in charge of the 6th M.G.B. Flotilla, Felixstowe, is personally interested in the installation of the automatic gun on the powered mounting in one of the boats under his command and is prepared to force the issue with the authorities for permission to do this.

One of his officers recently inspected the equipment at Derby and we promised that as soon as we knew the Army no longer required it for trials, we would notify Lt. Howes in order that he could tell the Naval authorities that gun, mounting and boat were available and all he required was their O.K. to get the equipment at sea in a matter of days.

If this can be achieved, it seems a step in the right direction, but we await the report on the Larkhill firings from the Army authorities.
