Dear Sirs,

Mr.E.R.Hall's 30 H.P. UNIT (Boat).

We are in receipt of your letter of the 10th. inst. in regard to reducing the size of the crankshaft fan pulley to drive the cooling pump, and enclose herewith our detail drawing of this piece EB.226.

Actually it is a finely machined piece with close limits on its taper fit and external oil retaining thread clearance in the wheelcase, such that we think you would have difficulty without gauges etc. to reproduce this piece with a smaller pulley. Possibly the most simple way is to machine off the existing belt V and bolt up the requisite size pulley to the plain portion left on the original pulley. Provision should be made to lock the starter dog retaining nut as before which automatically locks the extractor nut.

To remove the fan pulley remove the lock plate and undo the large hexagon nut just forward of the pulley which extracts the latter off the crankshaft and its keyway. It is of course re-fitted in the same manner and to be clear on this job we enclose an arrangement of the fan pulley assembly.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
