BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M6.2.28. EAC.10. GEARBOX. Y7310 We send herewith N. sch. 2542. shewing a correction to the gearbox casting as a result of our examination of the box layouts which you have/sending us. Though on the original N. sch. the web carrying the servo bearing is shewn set, on your detail layout you have kept it straight, in so doing we think dangerously reducing the clearance between the 2nd. speed wheel and the web. We think that the web should be set as on our original drawing, but not quite so much. When we were in Derby we saw some additional views being prepared of this casting, and we should be much obliged if you could send us prints of these.
