NORS. To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Bonnet Ventilators. Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lld Cxr Referring to Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}4/GR.{George Ratcliffe}1.7.31 I have this afternoon seen the modified flap shutters on the experimental car brought to London and have approved the type as fitted on the driver's (i.e.offside) side of the bonnet and with the counter-sunk rivets. I understand that fitting them to the Show cars - or in other words, making them standard for N.2. series, will involve scrap of approximately £60, to which I agree. I have emphasised the question of "standard for N.2. series" because if they are on the Show cars, then the latter becomes essential. I hope this makes the matter clear. There is one point on which I should be glad of information and that is whether, when these are introduced, the louvred type bonnets will be unnecessary on cars sent to countries for which they are present standard? Doubtless you will wish to consult with the Experimental Dept. on this point. Possibly it would still be deemed desirable to have the louvred shutters on the Continental cars. Here again I think it is important that we should definitely lay down what should be done under these various headings. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} RECEIVED 8 JUL 1931 | ||
