Dear Sirs,

In connection with your letter of Nov. 30th. regarding rectifying valves for use on 10,000 volts for insulation testing and similar purposes. We would say that we are familiar with this application in connection with high voltage testing of insulating cables, in which case the valves are in some cases used on potentials up to 30,000 and 40,000 volts.

The main consideration is, of course, that the valves shall be capable of standing the high voltages applied to it, rather than be capable of any heavy dissipation in the anode circuit. This being the case, what you will require is a high insulation valve, having a comparatively low watt rating, and low filament emission.

We have no standard valve to conform to these requirements, and can therefore only supply at the moment, a valve of a much higher watt rating than is necessary, in order to stand up to the high voltages which would be applied. In this case, the rectifying valve shewn in our Catalogue under type No. U2 would be the most suitable which we could at the moment supply for your purpose.

Yours faithfully,
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF
THE M.O. VALVE COMPANY LTD.

Technical Manager.
