To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. NJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} RG.{Mr Rowledge} X5340 R2/M27.6.24. RE GOSHAWK. x5370 X.5340. X.5060 X.4219. X.8016. X.4247. The 4 speed side lever servo drive and gearbox design is now nearing completion. We naturally expect, however, this will add to the cost and weight of the chassis; how much we cannot foretell. We have however been able to make the gearbox remarkably small for the features it provides, and have included sliding reverse, which we hope will be generally easier to make and erect than the more usual eccentrically engaged reverse. The servo design we expect will not present any difficulties owing to the experience we have had already. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
