Re: STEERING ROLLER FAILURES
Bentley "M" series & "Wraith"

We confirm having telephoned to your office this afternoon and, as we were informed that both yourself and FJH{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} were out, we asked to be put through to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}'s office and spoke to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}, whom we requested kindly to ask you to send us two tested rollers, complete with bolts and nuts, because we have to deliver two new "Wraith" chassis within a short time. Please refer to Sr/VA3/JAB7439.

Will By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} kindly note that we confirm the conversation we had with Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} concerning the steering box and the F.87380 support-sleeve of same dismantled from 3.DL.58 Demonstration Car, which we found to be slightly distorted across the faces. As requested by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} we will return the above parts to you together with the pendulum lever for examination. As soon as you have examined them and should you consider the parts to be fit for further service, kindly have returned to us. We are labelling them for the attention of By/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}
