E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG23. 8. 21. X4219 RE. GOSHAWK 11. ENGINE. Attached herewith is a list of complaints which we have made On Goshawk 11. engine unit. It would help us tremendously if you could put in the column by the side of the complaint, whether anything is being done or likely to be done. Every effort is being made here to push the production of Goshawk pieces. It would therefore be a help if we knew on what parts changes were likely to be made. Take, for instance, the oil pump casing. This at present is instructed as an aluminium die casting, the bushes cast in and steel unions screwed in. With both engines we have had on test we have had trouble with the steel union turning round. We find that the new type of unions which go with this engine seem to grip very tightly. We think it would be fatal to go on with the present arrangement. We have recommended bronze castings for the pump body. This is only as an illustration. We should be greatly obliged if you could help us. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} H & C 2209 (100 L) (2) H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} (28' II-8-30/S) S200 | ||
