To DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} +8992 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG17.7.25. 7-EX. CAR FOR MR. ROYCE. X8992 X8250 We should like to have some definite instructions as regards the bonnet and radiator for this car. Acting on your instructions, we altered the radiator and took out the top row of tubes and made a plain bonnet with shutters to suit. As we understand this type of radiator will now never be used on standard cars, we do not see that it would be useful running it on Mr. Royce's car. We should therefore like some definite instructions as to what radiator, bonnet, bonnet handles and bonnet strips should be used. We take it that we shall have to fit the cylindrical type of autovac. We have not yet received the arrangement of the dashboard when this autovac is fitted. We should also like an arrangement of the instrument board and would like to know what type of instrument board controls are to be used. We are fitting up the dipping head lamps to this car and the RR. type front wing irons. We should like to point out that we find the wings which are fitted to the Barker subframe saloon body are an entirely different shape to the RR. wing irons. We therefore using forged wing irons on that car. We think in the case of the Hooper body now being fitted to 9-PK at the Coachbuilders, the front wings should be made to suit the RR. wing irons, or the RR. wing irons should be modified to suit the wings the coachbuilders will supply. | ||
