X6099 (81)/1231 PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT11.8.31. S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}..from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to R.{Sir Henry Royce} Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} I am glad to see in R2/M4.8.31 that it is desired that there shall be a further perseverance in respect of excitation being assisted by headlamps in a series winding, although I fear that any such arrangement is not likely to be of assistance in earlier cutting-in, but rather suspect that hooking-up the headlamp circuit in this way would postpone the excitation in the normal way by the shunt circuit, in view of the necessarily low resistance and few ampere-turns of the series-lamp-circuit.
