re Bentley.

Referring to your memo tx.25/KB.25.7.33, we attach herewith a 'photograph of the detachable wheel nuts we are instructing for the Bentley.

You will see from the 'photograph that the proposed lettering is similar to the "B" approved by EG. for this part, and in addition the words "on" and "off" with appropriate direction arrows are added on the flat face of the nut where they can be engraved in a similar way to the other features required.

We propose to have the engraving filled in with bituminous baked enamel.

These nuts are right and left-hand threaded according to the side of the car on which they are to be used, but it is not now customary to mark this on the nut.

This design of nut is only one ounce heavier than the twelve sided nut normally used by Rudge Whitworth, and this ounce is required for thickening the face of the nut for the purpose of the engraving. The lost weight has more than been recovered by one pound saved in the weight of the spanner due to using a smaller octagonal drive for the nut instead of the twelve flats on the rim.
