The unsatisfactory results of testing tungsten contact points, concluding that only platinum is suitable for their ignition system.

Bailey - Chief Engineer} X.2894 - TUNGSTEN CONTACT POINTS. Further to our last report EFC2/T25.6.20 re the above tungsten contact points received from the Independent Lamp & Wire Company, of which a pair were mentioned in that report as having been fitted to 49-GB and afterwards transferred to 6 EX, we have not been able to obtain satisfactory results with these points. We are sending herewith for Mr. Royce's inspection these particular tungsten points which have now been removed from 6 EX. Our experience so far shows that there is nothing but platinum which can be safely used on our own ignition. EFC. | ||
