Mr Barrington X93 Aug. 19th.12 2100. Below I give Experimental Dept's report RE EXPLOSIONS IN THE SILENCER The damper over the low speed throat cures the explosion due to the petrol that used to be drawn up there when coasting down hill. We still get explosions however with this damper on, due to the petrol that collects in the carburettor and pipe when the throttle is suddenly shut, the inertia on the petrol causes it to continue to flow for an instant after throttle is shut. We get explosions even if the low speed jet cone is screwed right doen absolutely cutting off any petrol from that secures source when coasting. If we make our low speed jet very strong, about half a turn of the milled nut, it cures tham all. The explosions seem to be caused by one or two misfires and then one slow burning charge which is burning when exhaust valve opens and sends | ||
