Diagnosis of engine explosions in the silencer under various operating conditions.

X93 a flame into the silencer. If you go along the road and short a plug, or even switch on or off you do not get a hang but if you retard and switch on battery only you can get one every time. Explosions are also worse with a cut-out open which is we believe due to the charges in the cylinders being weakened by air drawn back through the exhaust valve. We also get explosions when the throttle is opened gently after coasting, this we consider is due to the petrol not commencing to flow immediately and weak charge going into the cylinders. E.P. | ||
