TO [REDACTED] FROM EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} COPY TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [REDACTED] S E C R E T. RE EXPL. P.2. FOR R.R.A.I. We thank you for your copy of Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}3/EDI/14.3.30. re the above. Although this body has been ordered in a hurry and more or less taken from stock, we think it should appear in our records like any other experimental body. Would HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} therefore give us a chassis number, and tell us the general details of the chassis, in particular the tyres, wheels and whether the finish is nickel or chromium. Would HN.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} get a specification of the body from Messrs Barker & Co, for us and also send us a detailed copy of his letter to them instructing, the following:- Paintwork. Leather, Trimming, Carpet, Head-lining, Finishers, inside handles and finish of the same. Outside handles and finish of the same. We would be glad if HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and WHR{Mr Wheeler} would give us an idea as to what particular accessories are to be fitted to this car. We will then make out the usual instruction for them. We are very anxious that we should make the best of the car even though we have had to hurry, for that it was made in a rush will not be any excuse to "R" when he sees it, and he will hold EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} responsible for the coachwork and fittings being up to our standard of excellence. We will send BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} a sketch in a day or so shewing how to fit a special front subframe crossmember to a standard R2H. sub-frame to make it suitable for the L.H. chassis. Such a crossmember could not be used as standard but it will be quite satisfactory for the experimental car. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
