We have lately sent you improved camshaft drive, with its greater simplicity, and greater convenience of camshaft timing.

We have modified the cyl. block casting of the No.3. type pattern for the high compression engine. This is an improvement in the ease of casting, and in weight, and although the present casting has no signs of want of stiffness, this casting should be definitely stiffer and better for the joint at the top of the cylinder liner.

We sent you a modification to the carb. to admit the air more easily to the chokes, and we also sent you a scheme for the finer adjustment of the slow running jet. We believe however that it will take some little time before you can arrive at the proper proportions of the various air and petrol passages in the carb.

To avoid perhaps a wrong impression the above work has been done to meet Derby's experience and suggestions i.e. team work.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
