copy of original. ORIGINAL late HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} [Note: 'HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' is crossed out] copies to :- Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} CJ. S E C R E T. R/LG. 3.10.23. x9950 x9720 Mr. A.{Mr Adams} C. Have not seen any sheets re. tests of this engine owing to absence from home. To settle possibilities of power at high speed suggest testing with sufficiently large Claudel carb. for 150 HP. also dividing exhaust and perhaps inlets into 3's. Try also if you value extra oil on pistons at full throttle as 40/50 HP. Before placing this engine on chassis, have ready trussed frame and dampers for both ends of engine. Hope its own chassis will be ready as quick as we could fit this engine to any chassis but as soon as passably good it should be placed on some chassis i.e. its own, Hawk or 40/50 HP.
