RE PETROL FILTERS.
----------

There is general complaint with regard to our petrol filters. The evidence is not in all cases very clear, but we have had examples in which the gauze of the filter disc has become rotten. I enclose one such sample. One layer of this has been destroyed purposely but you will see that other layers are in a very bad condition, and the edges have broken away.
The fact that attention to this filter is not very easy, that the making of the top joint requires a certain amount of skill, no doubt has some bearing on this trouble. We feel that filter gauze should be replaced say, at least every two years and in addition to this you may perhaps consider it desirable to incorporate the additional filter near the Carburetter which could perhaps be made more accessible.
