X7310. Copy for Files. 20.7.32. P.II 1st GEAR. As reported in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}5/MA.23.5.32., the 1st gear on all P.II gearboxes tends to work into mesh under load. The pinion to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}655 provides that the induced thrust be adequately taken. There is however a tendency for this gear to work out when being used as a brake down a steep hill. A test on 41 GN R.H. chassis with the old type gear box showed that a similar tendency existed. The synchromesh 1st gear is therefore no worse in this respect than the 1st gear on previous P.II cars. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
