W/S - Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}: v796 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.31.12.34. B-10-DG. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Thompson Esq. Thank you for Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}2/I/13.12.34 and The two outstanding points in connection with the body appear to be - (1) The outside petrol filler. We note that the charge for this is £5.9.0d. We must say that this does not appear to us to be in any way a reasonable charge for the alteration, but as it is essential for the extra luggage space we shall have to agree to it. It would be interesting to know why the side spare wheel carrier, which necessitates a considerable number of extra parts, should be £4.18.6d., whereas the outside petrol filler, which is a rearrangement of existing parts, costs £5.9.0d. (2) Doping the scuttle and the front door panels. We note that the cost of this is £3.0.0d., to which we agree. With regard to the wing clearances, we have now discussed the matter with Mr. Thompson and he wishes the wings to be modified to make the car look normal when the 5.5" tyres are fitted. He does not anticipate that it will be necessary to fit the 6" tyres. The total cost of the car now stands at the list price for a standard saloon, plus £26.0.0d. for the extras previously quoted, plus £8.9.0d. agreed in this letter. Regarding the outside handles on the back of the car, I certainly consider that the two handles look a neater job than the single handle. However, I leave it to you to fit whichever is the better mechanical job. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
