Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter ref: WPR/DP dated 16th. February, concerning your proposals for lightening the split skirt piston.

We are having a complete review of the position and will be submitting a new drawing to you shortly.

In the meantime, we require some 3.250 bore pistons to be going on with. These should be similar in every way to P.482. with the dimension of 2.300 from gudgeon pin centre to crown.

Will you therefore please supply 24 pistons (3.250 bore). These can be obtained either Aerolite or split skirt, (as per your letter dated 10th. January) whichever can be produced the more quickly.

It is important that the 2.300 dimension is accurate.

Also, will you please supply:-

24 each "L" section rings.
12 " gas rings.
12 " scraper rings.

to suit 75 mm. 3.250 and 3.500 bore engines, making 144 rings altogether.

Yours faithfully,
for ROLLS ROYCE. LTD.,
