Re Edison Cells. X.50
R.{Sir Henry Royce} 7-11-13.
In reply to your memo R1/P291013, asking why Edison Cells were fitted to chassis 2301 and as to how the car was sent away with these incorrectly connected up, Mr Haldenby reports as follows :-
"The car was tested by me but the battery and "step were removed in the night after test "so as to fit a well for the second spare "wheel. The step, battery etc. were "re-fixed under Hancock's supervision and "the car was despatched without further "testing as this job seemed so simple.
"I suppose I am responsible for the "mistake not being found out and am sorry "Mr Royce has been troubled by it. The "Edison cells were originally fitted to the "car and there were no instructions to "remove them.
"I am now removing the Edison Cells "from the cars here and putting back the "C.A.V. Cells which were taken off."
