RE "GOSHAWK II" FRONT SPRING (DRG)
FRONT DUMB IRONS.

On referring to the above drawing, would you kindly arrange, in accordance with Mr. Royce's wishes, to make this spring with a rolled eye on the rear end.

This has the effect of dropping the top leaf at the rear end about .437", and leaves the spring with about .280 camber.

So that the front spring cannot be erected the wrong way round, the front spring bolt should be increased from .5" to .562" diameter. This we think can be done without any alteration to the dumb iron stamping.

The angular slope on the front spring will now be about 2 1/3 degrees, which it is hoped will be a suitable inclination for the steering pivots.

Mr. Royce proposes as an alternative to rivetting, that the front dumb irons should be brased to the side channels by up-ending the side channel in a pot of molten brazing metal. He would prefer this to the rivetting if it is found practicable.
