Dear Sirs,
X5783
With reference to your letters of the 5th and 19th inst. and Mr. Preston's visit, we understand that most of these points are now cleared up. The looseness of the vents and the nuts on the terminal pillars is our fault and it should not now occur again.
With regard to the cells that failed in the test batteries, apparently these failed through the stretching which would be obviated if the separators were carried up as you suggest, but apart from this apparently our plates were in a better condition than any others, thus showing that they have a potentially longer life and if some of the other points, such as carrying the separation higher up and more to the sides, are attended to we shall get even better life. We understand that the question of putting feet on the bottom of the plates instead of notches is dropped and the present arrangement is to continue.
With regard to the points raised in yours of the 19th inst., we are sending you a credit for the various items you are returning and are sending you some more skillets although there is no doubt that these were sent previously.
Mr. Preston wishes you to know that we are making up three cells as follows:-
1. Standard R.R.11 - wood and ebonite separators carried up to underside of Bus Bar, i.e. projecting ½" above top of plates - Dagenite hold-down discarded.
