| 96 Y300a HOTEL DE FRANCE. CHATEAUROUX. Indre. France. GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/4/JAB. 27th June 1936. To. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 32. EX. We enclose an illustration of the cracks in the bakelite insulation which caused the dynamo break down on 32.EX. The crack was large enough to allow carbon, etc., to enter and short the circuit to earth. The dynamo actually ran 70 miles in the non-charge condition. New brushes were fitted before taking the car to Paris; this gave the dynamo a temporary life, but we doubt whether the new brushes would have lasted for any length of time. G.W.H. who is now in Derby, was present in Paris and saw the broken terminals. He will be able to confirm the above remarks. We note that your memo is not initialed by Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} We have standing instructions not to deal with memos which do not bear his signature. ---------- GWH{George W.
