FRONT APPEARANCE OF SPECTRECodename for Phantom III.

This is to confirm our agreed arrangement to fit up on SpectreCodename for Phantom III No.III a mock-up of a modified frontal appearance.

We wish to mount in the SpectreCodename for Phantom III radiator a set of Phantom II radiator shutters in the place of the grill. We suggest that these shutters can be rigged up in a strip steel frame in the closed position. The frame can be held in position by some of the grill fixings. It will be necessary to close up the spacing between the shutters as compared with Phantom because the transverse width of the radiator face of SpectreCodename for Phantom III is one inch less than that of Phantom II. The base of the shutters will be approximately 2 ins. above the base of the present grill. We are glad of this as Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has asked to see the appearance of a radiator on SpectreCodename for Phantom III in which the base has been raised.

The front apron will be raised bodily 2 ins., back and front. It can be held in this position by suitable blocks. We wish to make up roughly some mating-up pieces between the edge of the apron and the inside valances of the front wings, to represent what the wings would look like if made to suit this raised apron.

It will be necessary to leave the starting handle bearing in the raised position when it will be at about the correct height for the apron, and the horns will have to be raised 2 ins., which we suggest can be done by using blocks of wood and long bolts. A number plate should be fitted raised the same amount as the apron. Also we would like the bumper which you have for SpectreCodename for Phantom III rigged up on the car in a position 2 ins. higher than that shown on the arrangement. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has requested that this mock-up be available for him to see when he visits the Works this week.
