Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to the correspondence which has transpired between your good selves and our Engineer on the subject of Dial Reading Thermometers, a copy of our letter E.1.POD of June 30th addressed to your good selves has been passed to us for attention, in order that we may quote you for an aircraft instrument suitable for your requirements.

We presume that the instrument which you have in mind is our type V.185 (Mark IA) Mercury-in-Steel type Oil Temperature Thermometer as shown on Page 17 of our List 53, a copy of which we enclose.

You will see that the standard calibrations for this instrument are either 0-100°C, 0-160°C or 40-140°C, which we have found to be the most suitable and no doubt that one or other of these calibrations will meet with your requirements. [Strikethrough: in spite of the fact that the correspondence refers to a calibration of 0-100°C or 50-150°C.]

[Strikethrough: We would inform you that the prices shown in our catalogue for this instrument are subject to a special discount of 20% to your good selves.]

Delivery, of course, would be dependent on the quantities required and also on the length of capillary tubing, so in the event of your deciding to entrust us with your esteemed order, we shall be obliged if you will kindly indicate the length of tubing required and also whether the instruments are to be luminous or non-luminous.

We hope that this information meets with your requirements and that we may look forward to being entrusted with your esteemed order in due course.

Yours faithfully,
SMITH'S AIRCRAFT INSTRUMENTS

J.E. CHORLTON
MANAGER.
