DYNAMO MB.75 EX CHASSIS 26-RC.{R. Childs}

We have duly examined this machine and below is a copy of my assistant's report.

"The complaint concerning this dynamo was 'Blowing of fuses', in addition wo which it was found that the solder had been melted from the commutator connections.

From the nature of the complaint it would appear that the cause of the trouble was a very bad connection in the dynamo-battery circuit. The negative brushes were quite free in their holders, which suggests that the initial fault was not in the dynamo but elsewhere in the circuit.

This machine has the early control brush setting of 120° from which, added to the fact that all the brushes were blackened, it seems that sparking at the brushes had occurred due to high output. This would account for the solder being melted from the commutator connections, but it is unlikely that it would cause the volts to rise sufficiently big to blow the field fuse.

The insulation of the machine was O.K."

We return the dynamo herewith to EY.
