Fitting of aerials. The next type of aerial to be dealt with is the roof aerial. There are several methods of fixing this aerial depending upon their construction but in general they are as shown in Fig. 4. The aerial consists of a length of heavy gauge chromium plated wire threaded through insulators one end of which is brought through the roof of the car (A) & securely bolted on by means of insulated nuts, the other two fixing positions at B & C respectively are held on by means of rubber suction washers. The lead-in is brought down by the side of the windscreen by means of a screened cable which is earthed onto the frame at the joint. It is difficult to give any definite method of fixing for side telescopic aerials on account of the different designs but in general they are fixed onto the side of the car by means of insulated bolts the lead-in being brought through in a similar manner to that of the roof aerial. | ||
