SECRET To HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Copy to- Ber. RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} HHO. WRS. Poy/Gen. E/Sy.2/MN.1.2.37. Handwritten: TO44 600 Wraith II Front Suspension Yoke Piece Bearing. The Experimental Dept. have requested that the spherical bearing at the base of the yoke piece on Wraith II be held in position by a long through bolt, and we show such a scheme on W.Sch.5021 herewith. Opportunity has been taken to show on this drawing certain other modifications which have been called for, and these are clearly indicated. In particular would we point out that there is a groove round the ball but no hole transversely through it as on the detail. The drawing also shows the correct way of stopping grooves on both ball pads. With respect to the bearing pads we suggest that these be split like the upper pad of the steering joint on Phantom lll. In this case both pads may be split as there is no pressure oil on the joint. It will be for the Expl. Dept. to say whether they need these both split or not to prevent them from revolving in their housings. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Att:W.Sch.5021. | ||
