The two slots which are in the top of the well to position the gland spring washer have made the fitting a little more tricky than hitherto.

We should be pleased to hear if you have any other views with regard to the cure of this trouble other than those mentioned.

Another point which we should like cleared is, that upon unscrewing the accelerator pump jets, in two cases the part which protrudes into the choke has broken off. The line of thread in the casting is such that the jet fouls the inner venturi so that in the process of screwing up, the jet is sprung out of line, imposing a heavy sideways load at the root of the protruded portion and which in our opinion is the cause of the failures.

Mr. Fisher informs us that the future English bodies for the Ph.III will be rectified by slight alteration of the screw centres, which we wish to confirm.

Over and above the final carburetters which you are supplying to production, will you please supply two similar models for our experimental use. These to be issued to us as a separate order and marked up for our attention; otherwise they will be claimed for production.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
