By/NS.{Norman Scott} c. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/MCS. Rmll/R.5.8.39. DUPLEX EXHAUST SYSTEM for 33-G-VII. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' CAR. It is apparent that if we put the 'Corniche' Exhaust System on this car we have to restrict the axle movement. If we can use a single expansion box, this trouble does not occur. We have a very excellent single expansion box on the Ripple. We recommend that the system drawn for Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' car should consist of two of these boxes, which will enable the tail pipes to go over the axle and the expansion boxes to be in the centre bay. We admit that we have no experience of this system, but it is true of any duplex exhaust system on 8-cylinder engines, and it will be up the to Experimental Dept. to make it function.
