The shutters should be finished with stove enamel having a matt surface. The aluminium frame should be tried with and without enamel (matt surface) to see what effect it has on the appearance of the car.
An important point in connection with fitting these shutters is the displacement of the vent pipe. Reference to the drawing will shew that to get the clamping piece in the position required, it is necessary to move the vent further away from the matrix. This alteration to the position of the vent pipe should be immediately incorporated in the radiators being made. Further, we think it is possible to alter this vent pipe on radiators on existing cars for the purpose of applying this frame of shutters, by either removing the existing vent pipe clip and refixing it, or distorting the existing vent pipe clip in position on the radiator.
This matter should be tried out, however, to find what the possibilities are in Derby.
Will you kindly proceed with the detail work as far as shewn on drawing No. LeC.1085. A further scheme will be sent shewing the distribution of the clamping bolts in the frame, and the control for operating the shutters from the dashboard.
