BONNET KNOCKS.

We do not consider excessive strain should be experienced by the bonnet when the rubber buffers on the dash prevent the bonnet from actually touching the scuttle.
A suitable clearance has yet to be found for use between the buffers and the bonnet. The buffer cannot be under compression in a normal position as this would cause difficulty to open and close the bonnet.

Although as previously stated a longer and more flexible top water connection is desirable for use with a centre mounted radiator, a standard water connection fitted on 25-EX does not cause the bonnet to knock when the rubber buffers are used on the dash, even under the most severe conditions.

We therefore consider that, what ever method be used to reduce bonnet movement, these rubber buffers remove all chances of bonnet knocks even if they do not come into action until .025" before the bonnet touches the scuttle.

With regard to the bonnet locating the radiator, that is a suitable clearance between the radiator and the dash, we have not been able to get any more useful data from 25-EX. It is not possible to fit the bonnet as desired to suit both radiators and as we are now running the small tube radiator, we think that this job can be cleared up at Derby. The Bumper might be very useful. The top bonnet panels are too short to help to locate the radiator on 25-EX.
