Water Pump. LOP. E.87052. Lec.4545-4819.
Existing complete to the above LOP. incorporating:-
E.87048 Water Pump Casing.
With fittings for Harrison car heater connection.
Water pump dismantled and examined.
Gauze filter fitted on water inlet in water casing as supplied by Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/Std. (See HRS/CP./L/BA.26.1.37).

Pump noises were complained of before leaving Works and pump was inspected. After 9,500 miles, a very bad groaning squeak developed. The pump was stripped whilst the car was at the Paris Depot. It was found that the E.77234 bush was not pushed right home so that the inner end was not standing proud of the casing. This had allowed the flat face of the rotor to rub against the casing. When the bush was pushed back to its correct position, the required .025" clearance was obtained.

The thrust pad was worn down badly and had allowed the curved faces of the propellor blades to rub the casing. The spindle was in good condition.

The gauze filter was satisfactory and embedded itself in the rubber hose as a permanent fixing. We do not consider any alteration to this design necessary.

Oil Pump & Drive. LOP. E.86843. Lec.4400.
Existing, complete to above LOP. incorporating:-
E.86841 Casing. E.86842 Cover.
The following new parts fitted:-
E.88348 Driving Shafts.

There were no complaints of noise priming or when hot. Oil pressure was satisfactory except on fast L.H. corners.

Gauze Pressure Filter. LOP.E.87984. Lec.4873.
Existing, complete to above LOP. incorporating the following new parts:-
Lec.5338-5342 Stronger bye-pass & additional filter element.
I - E.88348 Gauze Frame.
I - E.88354 Filter Body Cover.
I - E.88552 Spring.

At no time was loss of oil pressure due to choking of the filter experienced. The filter was most effective in preventing metal reaching the bearings after the big-end failure, considerable quantities having passed through the suction filter.
