NOTES ON THE ADVANTAGES
OF THE
R.R. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
INCORPORATING
THE R.R. TYPE OF AUTO CHARGE CONTROL SWITCH.

The advantages of the R.R. type of auto charge control switch as compared with that of the Midgley type are bound up with and inseparable from the fact that it is intended to be, and can only be, used with a charging switch such as the present R.R. standard type which breaks all the circuits concerned, e.g.
(a) Dynamo armature--dynamo field circuit.
(b) Dynamo armature--battery
(c) Dynamo field--battery

Thus the advantages of the R.R. auto-switch may be said to constitute a section of the advantages to be derived from the use of that type of switch.

We may tabulate the advantages of the combination of R.R. type hand switch and R.R. type auto charge control switch as follows :-

First of all, apart from the general advantage of additional control over the charging of the battery resulting from the use of any kind of charging switch, hand or autom-atic, it is an advantage to use an R.R. type of hand charging switch because :-

(1) It enables an auto charge control switch of the R.R. type, in which the shunt coil is connected to the battery side of the cutout, to be used.
