1110 Experimental Department 22nd. December 1936. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Smth.16/AP. Messrs Borg & Beck Ltd., Tachbrook Road, LEAMINGTON SPA. For the attention of Mr. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Baker. Dear Sirs, We have been getting a number of driven plates lately of which the rivet heads are not countersunk sufficiently deeply. We understood in earlier discussions on this point that the depth of the head below the friction face should be .062", but we have received a number as shallow as .030. We should be glad if you would give this matter your immediate attention. We are returning under separate cover a 10" plate of which one of the rivets has not been square on the rivetting tool, causing a lip on the rivet which is flush with the surface. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
