X 7060 SELF-ADJUSTING TAPPETS LTD. Grosvenor 2941-2 36 BERKELEY STREET, LONDON, W.1 Directors: Leonard Williams (Chairman) C. L. F.{Mr Friese} Clutterbuck Alan H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Griffiths LOGO TEXT: SELF ADJUSTING TAPPETS, SILENCE & SMOOTHNESS INSTRUCTIONS FOR FITTING SELF ADJUSTING TAPPETS TO OVERHEAD VALVE ENGINES. Remove loose cap "A" and screw down the Self Adjusting Tappet "B" from Right to Left until it reaches its bottom limit, at which point exert further pressure until it jambs tightly. Replace loose cap with its slots "C" registering with the projections on the steel portion of the Self Adjusting Tappet "D". Slide the tappet rod into position, making sure that the tappet operating the push rod is in the "down or valve closed" position, and engage the ball and socket. Now adjust the rocker to give .040" (approx. one millimetre) between rocker and valve stem, taking care that the Self Adjusting Tappet does not unjamb itself during the operation, and lock up at this clearance. Jar the tappet rod so that Self Adjusting Tappet unjambs itself and takes up the .040" clearance. Repeat with each valve in turn - making sure that each valve is in the closed position. | ||
