X3681 c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 4th. July 1929. BY/Cgh{W Clough}7/G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} X3681 X3054 Messrs. Rolls-Royce of America, Inc. Springfield, Mass. FOR THE ATTENTION OF MR. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} OLLEY. --------------------------------- Dear Sirs, FRONT AXLE CONTROL ANCHORAGE. ---------------------------- We are in receipt of your letter of the 13th. ult. (ref. OY-9) together with blueprints in connection with the above, and although we did have trouble due to the oil not getting up the lower spindle to the forward bearing on the original scheme, we have not so far experienced any difficulty in this direction with the modified scheme in which the ball joint is lubricated from the system which feeds the control damper, and the bearings at the lower end of the anchorage are lubricated from the front axle system. Our Experimental Department confirm the above, but will make a special point of examining the chassis which is now completing its 10,000 miles test in France immediately it returns to the Works, although they have not experienced any trouble on previous cars which have done 10,000 miles. In the meantime, however, we would prefer not to carry out the proposed alteration. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
