Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ----- x3681. BY/Cgh{W Clough}15/G.18.7.29. R.R.A.I. BRAKES. ---------------- With reference to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}23/E15.7.29. and copy of OY.5 dated July 2nd. the value of the ball thrust between the cam faces is fully appreciated so far as the operation of the cams is concerned, but whether it is desirable to havethe increased braking or whether we shall modify the ratio of the levers is a matter which will have to be decided after tests have been carried out. The ball thrust levers referred to in the last paragraph on page 2 of OY's memo have been received by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} who will carry out tests as soon as convenient. It is not considered that there is any urgent need to modify our plain type levers at the moment, but no doubt the Experimental Department will report on the matter to R.{Sir Henry Royce} as soon as they have completed their tests. P.S. Since writing the above we have received copy of OY.2 dated July 3rd., but there is nothing further to add at the moment. BY/Cgh.{W Clough} | ||
