ROTATION OF ELECTRICAL MACHINES.

In order to avoid ambiguity we will always
speak of rotations in the following manner :-

A positive rotation is one which is clockwise
(right-handed) when viewed on the driving end of the
machine, i.e. anti-clockwise or mathematically positive
when viewed on the commutator or contact breaker end of
the machine.

A negative rotation is one which is anti-
clockwise (left-handed) when viewed on the driving end
of the machine, i.e. clockwise or mathematically negative
when viewed on the commutator or contact breaker end of
the machine.

Further, all diagrams must be as viewed from
the commutator or contact breaker end.
