Re: Chassis No. 14.B.V. - Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}17/MH.{M. Huckerby}15.12.39.

The present position has arisen due, firstly, to the fact that our man apparently committed an irregularity by bringing the chassis only to this Country under the Carnet.

Secondly, we applied to the R.A.C. just before War broke out, for the return of the Carnet to use again when the body had been repaired.

As the cost of the repairs will be dutiable on re-importation of the body into England, we suggest when the time comes, that the body only should be sent back to us by the same route that it came originally, i.e. Dieppe - Newhaven.

Vanvooren should supply Invoices in triplicate for the cost of repairs, and we will endeavour to re-import the body by paying duty on this cost only.
