Mr. Maddocks. X8770 X5770

At the moment the only car we are contemplating sending to R.{Sir Henry Royce} is an EAC. 'V' series when it is ready.

As Mr. Maddocks knows nothing about EAC. and as the EAC. is so vital to the Company, we would not advise that the position of that car should be compromised in any way.
It is only proposed that the 'V' series car will stay at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence sufficient time for R.{Sir Henry Royce} to approve of it.

We suggest that we might get Mr. Maddocks to run a 20 HP. The following new features could be fitted to it :-
1. 4-speed gearbox with right-hand change.
2. Improved Firths front springs. Firths are supplying us with new front springs for the 20 HP. embodying the features which have made such a great improvement on the 40/50 HP. The 20 HP. springs at present are unreliable.
3. We have also got modifications to the universal joint and brakes.

Normally, we should not send the 20 HP. car to France until we have got more of the front wheel brake parts fitted to the car, but it would certainly be useful to run this car. We suggest that as Mr. Maddocks is going away for his health, he would have an easier time if he kept away from Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. It might be arranged that Mr. Maddocks went to Nice and had a look round our Depot there.
