Persistent clutch slipping and jaggering issue on chassis GWX/34 and an angry customer.

Your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}12/KW.10.1.34. This car has suffered alternately from slipping and jaggering, and sometimes both. When we have dismantled the clutch we have found no oil leaks from the engine, nor any excessive lubrication which was causing the trouble. With regard to the present complaint, we have not seen the car, but the owner telephoned here on the 8th inst. and we have never had to deal with a more angry client. He made all sorts of threats about getting rid/of the car, and giving the widest publicity to his troubles with the clutch. He stated that he insisted that we should at once supply and fit all new clutch parts, as he was confident there was something radically wrong with this unit on his machine. When you were at N. a little time ago dealing with the clutch matter, we gathered from you that the latest type clutch and flywheel had been produced to remedy the two complaints of slipping and jaggering. In view of the seriousness of Mr. Potter's complaint, we considered this would be a case where we ought to fit to the car the very latest approved material. With regard to the last paragraph of your memo, we feel that the latest type is certainly freer from jaggering. In my report to you a few weeks ago, I gave you the cases where,in "roasting", the pressure plate had seized. We shall be glad to hear from you by return as to whether the suggested parts can be supplied for GWX/34, as this owner is now waiting to hear from us. Br.{T. E.
