PHANTOM III. IGNITION COIL AND DISTRIBUTOR.

The intensive development recently carried out on ignition coils for our new aero engines has resulted in the production of a coil having a performance appreciably better than the coil now fitted to our P.III. chassis. It has an additional advantage in that the coil and distributor are combined, thus eliminating the length of H.T. cable between the coil and the distributor which has always been a source of trouble.

We would like to recommend that this combined coil and distributor head should be fitted to our P.III. chassis.

There should be a distinct saving in the cost of ballast resistance units and also in the deletion of the coil mounting brackets.

We are attaching herewith a sheet of curves of various coil performances. These curves illustrate the progress made in ignition coil development and show that our D.72503 coil when used with a 'Glowray' ballast resistance has a performance closely approximating that of our standard P.III. coil D.75260.

All our coils compare very favourably with the Delco-Remy at high speeds.
