X.6058. IGNITION COILS.

Answering your Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 11/E31.12.30 there has been a definite improvement in ignition coils between the 20 HP. and Phantom I on the one hand and the 20/25 and Phantom II on the other. The modification consists in improving the design of the coil by the provision of paxolin tube, one between the core and the primary and one between the primary and secondary, this providing a more rigid base for the windings.

We have not received the Delco Remy and DeJon coils mentioned by Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} in his note of December 6th.

Some ignition coils of other makes are now arranged with an inside secondary winding and outside primary and an experimental investigation of the merits of this coil construction is in progress.
